Snapshots of my day

I finished making a tote bag today whilst I was at work. (Whilst, I got that from the Nanny (on TV) who is English.) I'm not sure what the diff is between while and whilst. I haven't watched it for awhile, but I like the Nanny show even though I have no children, don't expect any and am hardly ever around them. I kind of miss those days when I watched my friend's kids, especially when they giggle and say amazing things. But I am not so good at making them listen when they need to behave. Super Nanny is so good with the kids and they adore her.

I made the tote bag out of some fabric that was given to me, (not the stinky fabric). People often give me fabric. Anyway sitting at work I had this bag of home dec fabric scraps and I was studying it, thinking it might make a neat bag with some of it. At first I tried folding this one piece of fabric to make like a small bag, but then I decided it shouldn't be folded. After that the inspiration just kind came as I went along. It was fun. I like the colors, that is really my thing with quilting/sewing, but I also like the texture, too, I suppose. Need pictures, right?

I don't know what kind of camera to get if I did get a digital one. I have been looking at Walmart, but really have no idea. I have a hard time making "big" purchases. And I guess I make everything too hard as one friend is always telling me!

Yesterday, I got the book I ordered, Paradise Park. I was very eager to find and read the part where she talked about folk dancing with the groups I used to dance with. Alas, I was skimming, but unless I missed it, there wasn't anything in there about either of my groups. The writer does mention folk dancing in Boston and with a small group of old ladies who she was teaching from the Jewish Temple in Hawaii, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I'm not sure what to say about her writing style. I did like the way she described dancing, it wasn't overdone, which I could see happening because it is something hard to describe to someone who hasn't done it.

I could tell the writer knew Hawaii well enough, for example, she frequently mentions places to eat, places where she either ate or worked. Nearly all of the places I had been to at least once, Zippy's in Manoa, Horatio's and the Chowder House at Ward Warehouse, King's Bakery, eating from a lunch wagon at the Univ. of Hawaii (UH) and other places I knew, that was kind of neat.

I bought some cherries for $4.88/lb. and it was packaged in a two pound bag, of course, (Walmart), so $10 bucks to have some cherries!

When I was in Israel two years ago, right around this time of year, I bought cherries. I think I paid about half what Walmart wanted, plus the cost of flying to Israel! And I also bought fruit in Hungary. I bought this basket of fruit - it looked so pretty sitting there at an outdoor market. Then I had to lug my little basket around with me for the rest of the day. I kept offering some to my fellow tour group but no one would take any. I ate several pieces, it was kind of messy and I didn't have any napkins, I guess that's why no one else wanted any. I think I finally left the rest of the basket somewhere! Funny things that I associate with fruit!

So that is some of what my day was like today! Exciting, I know!
