November 5, 1605--I have to admit this date meant nothing to me before I saw the movie V for Vendetta. These days we all remember 9-11-2001. Nobody has to ask what that date refers to. I wonder how long we will remember.

November 29, 1947--I don't know how long I will remember this date, but just now it is fresh in my memory. As I have just been reading, this is the date that the United Nations passed the vote to accept the Partition of Palestine to create the Nation of Israel. It would not be until the following year that the nation of Israel would come into being. As I was reading about the events that lead to the passage of this vote, I got chills. Israel and the Arabs were pulling out all stops to influence whomever they could in favor of their cause. Israeli representatives sent a message to an official in France asking him if how he could abstain from participating in a vote that would affect the course of history (or words to that effect, I don't have the book handy). Later they would learn how cuttingly these words would fall upon the ears of the gentleman who received this message.

When news reached Israel of the passage of this essential UN decision, there was dancing in the streets, although knowing it would soon lead to a war with the Arabs.

The United Nations was meeting in New York, the day after Thanksgiving.

Party Loyalty?

Back around the time of our primary election here in Georgia, someone I know was trying to tell me that he would only vote Republican no matter who won the nomination. And I suppose I can see his point to an extent, I too am pro-life, for example.

On the other hand, I wonder if that is so safe. I really don't know what to make of McCain. Granted, my impression of him is mostly coming from watching youtube videos of him. Said videos I have a feeling have mainly been posted by Ron Paul supporters and are purposely designed to show his mistakes.

So the thing that bothers me is that the McCain I am seeing does seem to be all too willing to say whatever he thinks people want him to say and all on the same day, like talking out of both sides of his mouth. So how scary is that?

I'm still considering Ron Paul. I don't feel like I know enough to be completely comfortable with him as a choice, but he is looking like the best choice. There is still time to give it thought and see how the Republican convention plays out.

I want to be fair and weigh the facts accurately, but how does one even know where to get accurate facts? Of course a candidate is going to say "I'm the best choice." And what else could you expect? Need it be said that the media has bias? I guess you have to just do the best you can do.
