Remembering The Waltons

When I was in high school, I'll be giving away my age here, there was a show that almost immediately became popular, The Waltons. It was the story of a young man, John Boy, who wanted to be a writer, and his family, living during the depression era (and continued on through WWII). The story just had such a heartwarming quality which I believe is what made it appealing. I often think of them when I think of the depression, and how they were able to make-do with what they had and make it through those tough times. They helped one another, they lived simply and they relied on God. I wonder if people today have the stuff of the people back then.

The Little House on the Prairie series was a similar story about an earlier time, the pioneering days. Both series were based on the real life experiences of young people who grew up to become writers. I think there is a lot to be learned from such stories.
