I found out that Jane Fonda had a blog and I had to check it out. Couldn't say exactly why. She's doing a play on broadway and blogging about that.
In my way of thinking by associations, I began to think of a movie, I saw one night with Jane Fonda in it. It was unusual that I had been able to watch it, a cable movie. It seems like it was because the cable station was allowing the channel the movie was on to show. I know that happened on some occasion. I don't know where I would have been though, cause I didn't have cable at all. At one point in my life I had no TV, and then I had a TV, but didn't get cable. I was only able to get 2 about stations, but generally watched only one, the PBS station. So. Where was I watching the movie? I feel pretty certain that I was alone. Not positive. It seems any way that I was in just the right frame of mind.
Whenever, and wherever I was, the movie was Julia. I loved that movie. I remember feeling how brave they were. Julia is about was a real woman who was a writer, played by Jane, and a close friend played by Vanessa Redgrave. The bravery part comes about during WWII and I remember the two friends seeing each other in a cafe somewhere (Berlin?). I'm bad at remembering movies well. So I can enjoy seeing them several times. For a long time I remember thinking about how good that movie was and comparing other movies negatively to that one. That's the main thing I can remember about it just now!
I have long found movies (and books) about that whole era with the Nazis, interesting. The first movie I can remember is The Sound of Music. I wonder how many times I've seen that movie? Of course, Schindler's List and Its a Beautiful Life; a movied called Europa, Europa, many more that I can't call by name.
I can't think of what other movies of Jane's I was thinking about. Oh, I know, Klute. I went to see just a few movies with my Dad when I was in high school. I don't know who chose them. Awkward. I also remember seeing The Summer of 42. Another one where neither of had much to say afterwards.
On Golden Pond was another favorite, and the one with the young Robert Redford and Jane playing newlyweds in NYC. I googled and saw that that was called Barefoot in the Park. I'm sure there have been others.
